About Melissa Watkins
As principal for Out Box PR, Melissa has created award winning programs for both regional and national clients throughout her two decades as a PR Counselor. She has served as national spokeswoman/pr manager for The Home Depot, at Georgia-Pacific as communications manager for the building products division and as a marketing and PR manager for a division of Equifax.
On the Agency side, Melissa served as an ast. account executive at Biggs-Gilmore Communications, the Agency famed with Charlie the Tuna advertising campaign, where she served on the team for Upjohn Animal Health (now Pharmacia), Big Dutchman and the Greater Kalamazoo United Way. There, she coordinated all advertising, marketing and PR efforts for these clients. She earned her Bachelor of Public Relations from Western Michigan University with a minor in Journalism; completed higher education executive courses in media relations, speaking, content marketing and conceptualization.
Melissa handles public relations, PR strategy, press releases, media relations, community relations, crisis management, content writing and management, social media strategy, thought leader and speaker placement and provides ongoing PR counsel. Clients and industries served are technology, healthcare, wireless, non-profit, sports, women’s lifestyle products and services, entertainment, home improvement and real estate, among others.
A PR guru and research geek, Melissa likes spending time outdoors, researching all things interesting, writing and reading, chasing down conspiracy theories and hanging out with her two dogs and family.
